the d arcangelo brothers somehow forgot about the downtempo side of things for this ep on the warm and freaky 030303 imprint. unlike on their releases for rephlex we hear mid and highspeed chicago influenced stuff thats a big treat for fans of gescom, stinkworx and afx (some stuff brings back memories of his helston flora mix of baby fords normal). mind you, theres still a distinctive d arcangelo sound to all of this jackin. what are all those false and sleepy melodies for? to confuse us? what a mindfuck this psychedelic minialbum is!

aardvarck, boris werner, san proper and sotu the traveler deliver the goods here and do what they do best, creating a diverse set of mixes. boris delivers an even deeper mix of >lost in the streets of nyc<, which is already being played by the likes of ricardo villalobos et al. aardvarck roughens up >on the side< in his well-known cultcopy style. while san proper discofies >use me< and sotu morphs the title track into a dubstep/house hybrid. new shit!

minor love features 14 brand new tracks from americas number 1 greatest singer!. minor love found green enlisting the talents of rodrigo from little joy and other hanger ons, like his brother joel (and look a likes joe steinbrick and greg from megapuss). the album showcases a tender side of the often arrogant and emotionally unavailable bully / singer, green. in a total state of isolation, green attempted to play nearly all the instruments on the record, due to incurable social phobias which plagued him. apparently the inspiration for this album lies in greens fatalism - you might want to take that with a pinch of salt though!

casxio (ca see oh) are a refreshing devine fusion of disco, funk and rock n roll. reminiscent of a sound that first infiltrated ourairwaves over a quarter of a century ago, casxio is what happens when prince, the talking heads, and sly stone all get their heartsbroken by the same girl.

what both neophyte and drokz stands for?, hardcore mayhem! added to the package is a new mix of the track ?holland is gvd het hardste and to simply put it as ?bonus tracks is not giving it the right credits.

the yore captain returns to his own yore imprint on the labels 21st release. shadow city presents different visions of funky house grooves. the a sides the y theme gets deeply moving with a funky house pulse before stoking the fire with the addition of speaking voices (trippingly intoning the q&a what are we doing this for? and the music), a move which single-handedly jumpstarts the track. after the voices appear, the grooves intensity escalates and plunges deeper, its gyroscopic house swing becoming more dizzying and torrential with each passing bar before coming to an acidy storming end. in its opening moments, shadow city opts for a deeper and more serenading vibe by comparison, but thats traded in for a slinkier attack at the three-minute mark that grows progressively more ferocious as the track makes its drastic upwards ascent. a trippin dangerous murder weapon to say the least. watch your heads! the b sides b2 track, mumbai dweller keeps the focus primarily on the bottom end, specifically a strutting tribal-house funk groove thats dragged even deeper by a throbbing bass undertow, adding dark chords to it, giving this ep a darker feeling towards the end. to sum it all up: this is raw house music at its best!

3 new edits by mike simonetti of italians do it better. three post punk jammers put to wax. part one of his mike series. mike decided not to go the typical route and edit rare baleric tracks or unknown boogie. instead he went into his past as a punk and did some re edits of post punk gems. you may recognize some of these toons. he promises to bust out the rare joints next time.
